In December 1992, totally on a whim, we placed an ad in our local newspaper offering hand-made wooden toboggans for folks to use on the toboggan chute at our local ski area. On December 19th we received our first order for four toboggans for Christmas delivery. It was only then that we set out to figure out how to make them! This was the beginning of the Camden Toboggan Company.

Our sleds are produced in our small workshop here in Camden, Maine. With our staff consisting of the chief toboggan maker, his assistants and one office person, we produce about 40 to 50 sleds a season. Because quality and craftsmanship are our main goals, we intentionally limit the amount we make each year. Also, we thoroughly enjoy and want to maintain the one-on-one relationship we have with our customers; something that couldn't be done on a large-scale production basis.

During the course of the years since 1992, we have gained a lot of experience and knowledge in the art and craft of making wooden toboggans. We feel we produce the best hand-made toboggan available. We have shipped toboggans all across the country.
